A stunning drive from the young German completed a sensational double for Red Bull, built on the success of the fantastic RB6 built by Adrian Newey.

Vettel was handed the title after awful tactical mistakes by Mark Webber and especially Fernando Alonso after the Ferrari driver made the nonsense decision to cover his nearest rival. It was clear to me Webber was in deep, deep trouble after making the early stop and Alonso just dived in after him.

But it was a fitting end for Vettel. He would have won the title earlier were it not for mechanical failings and, despite a couple of silly mistakes, has been overall the fastest driver.

It caps a stunning season for Red Bull. The team are the very essence of a modern Formula One team, fiercely competitive, media friendly and technically as good as it gets.
