Bernie pledges to “find a way” to get Bahrain race on in 2011

The Bahrain Grand Prix will not be held in the summer break but could be slotted in at end of the season, between Abu Dhabi and Brazil, Bernie Ecclestone has said today.

Ecclestone is insisting if the Middle Eastern nation is peaceful, he will “find a way” to fit the race in.

This could mean Brazil having to push its race back by at least a week because it simply won’t be possible to move the freight from the Gulf and across the Atlantic for back to back weekends.

The most important thing at this point is for a clear decision to be made quickly but that will clearly be difficult. Bahrain may have dropped out of the headlines but none of us can know what the situation is like on the ground.

It would surely be easier for all concerned to leave the season at 19 races – not like we’re short of them – and plan to schedule Bahrain in 2012 as normal. It means no decisions have to be made for months.
