Vettel is already the fastest on the streets of Monaco

Sebastian Vettel has already laid a marker by topping the times in practice one but, as we saw with Fernando Alonso’s bad error last year, a whole weekend can be undone with a single error.

We saw Michael Schumacher make a visit to the barriers late on this morning and a well documented truck fire earlier in the week has left the Ste. Devote corner looking fragile.

Add to all of that Pirelli bringing the delicate super soft tyres to a race for the first time and we have everything needed for organised chaos.

This, of course, assumes Sebastian Vettel and Red Bull don’t continue to get the rub of the green the same way we have seen all season. There was nothing to stop Mark Webber running the table last year as Red Bull cantered home with an emphatic one-two.

Vettel has to start the weekend favourite, there being no reason to think otherwise. The world champion has been flawless so far this year and he will probably keep it out of the armco all weekend. But it would be easier than ever to be wrong.
